ABOUT

BACKGROUND

Shideh was born and raised in Iran. At the age of 13, she and her family, spanning three generations of women and girls, left Iran after the revolution, and settled in the UK. Later, they immigrated to the US, where Shideh completed her education.
This significant chapter in Shideh’s life has instilled in her a profound understanding and compassion for those who yearn to belong but struggle due to the weight of trauma. Through her own experiences, Shideh has learned that a sense of belonging and wholeness can be rediscovered by reconnecting with the body and its inherent capacity to heal.

EDUCATION

Shideh holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and holds licenses to practice in both New York (NY) and Virginia (VA). Following her degree, she dedicated herself to serving marginalized communities in New York City and later started her private practice where she continues to work with a diverse population. Her commitment to enhancing her skills later led her to pursue further studies in Somatic Experiencing, Integral Somatic Psychology, and Inner Relationship Focusing.

Shideh specializes in addressing diverse forms of trauma, with a particular focus on complex and developmental trauma.

As a faculty member at the Somatic Experiencing Institute, she shares her knowledge and expertise both nationally and internationally.

At its heart, trauma is about severed belonging – within our bodies, emotions, and minds, as well as in our connections to others, nature, and the profound mystery of existence. As we reconnect with our bodies and work through trauma, a fresh story emerges, ushering in a sense of belonging and completeness. This deepened connection with our embodied selves permeates every facet of our existence, shaping a profound sense of belonging in every aspect of our lives.
